Terms of Use
Last updated 2026-08-21
These terms govern your use of medcodesearch.com (“MedCodeSearch,” “the site”). By using the site, you agree to them.
1. What the site is
MedCodeSearch is a free reference tool for looking up publicly available U.S. medical code sets. It is provided as-is, for informational use, subject to the Disclaimer page, which is incorporated into these terms.
2. Acceptable use
You may use MedCodeSearch to look up, browse, print, and link to code pages for your own reference. You agree not to:
- Interfere with, overload, or attempt to disrupt the site or the infrastructure serving it;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site, its data, or its infrastructure;
- Use the site to violate any applicable law or the rights of a third party; or
- Misrepresent MedCodeSearch as an official, government-affiliated, or coding-authority source.
3. No automated bulk scraping
Automated bulk scraping, crawling, or downloading of the site — beyond normal search- engine indexing and ordinary interactive browsing — is not permitted without prior written permission. The underlying official code-set data is public (see below), so if you need it in bulk, request it directly from the responsible government organization listed on the Data Sources page, which is the authoritative source anyway. Automated access that degrades the site for other users may be blocked without notice.
4. Intellectual property
The underlying code, description, and note data for ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and HCPCS Level II is public U.S. government information, published by CDC/NCHS and CMS as described on the Data Sources page. MedCodeSearch does not claim ownership of that underlying official data.
The MedCodeSearch name, logo, site design, page layout, navigation structure, hierarchy presentation, search ranking, and the organisation and formatting choices used to present the official data are original to this site and are not to be copied wholesale to operate a competing or duplicate service.
Note that HCPCS Level I (CPT) and ADA CDT dental codes are excluded from this site precisely because they are licensed, not public, code sets — see About for detail.
5. No warranty
MedCodeSearch is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. While the site is built and validated against official source files (see Methodology), errors, omissions, delays in reflecting a new official release, and display bugs can occur.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MedCodeSearch and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of revenue, profits, data, or business, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the site — including damages arising from reliance on any code, description, status, or note displayed here. Coding, billing, and clinical decisions remain your responsibility and that of any professional you consult; see the Disclaimer page.
7. Changes to the site and these terms
MedCodeSearch may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site at any time. These terms may be updated from time to time; continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above.
